Komodo National Park

Komodo island is the habitat of the animal kind of giant lizards that are in the archipelago Nusa Tenggara, the island in the districts of dragons, Manggarai western border with the province of West Nusa Tenggara, is included in the national park dragons along with the island of the solid, Rinca, an island Mota and other small islands.
On Komodo Island, there are more than 2,000 living Komodo dragons in the wild.



Because of the existence of dragons are endangered, in 1986, UNESCO set the Komodo island and the islands around the Komodo National Park as a world heritage site because dragons can only be encountered in this area.

Komodo

The animal has a scientific name Varanus komodoensis reptile is a giant carnivorous lizard that can reach a size of 2-3 meters with a weight of 100-165kg.

Animals that have a body that large, sharp nail and skin scaly by local people called by the name of "ORA" and its main prey is deer, wild boar, horses, buffalo and civet.


Dragons were first discovered by Lieutenant Steyn van has Broek in 1910 with his army and managed to kill the dragons then perpetuate the photos and sent to the botanical garden in Bogor.

Trekking
